Collaborative and Engaging Psychotherapy

My theory is grounded in Relational Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. This theory highlights the ways our minds have developmentally learned to develop and respond given our life’s circumstances. Through curiosity and the thoughtful use of the therapist’s experience of the other, we can uncover the mechanisms that make us who we are and heal the ways we were forced to adapt.

I draw from Coherence Therapy, a modality designed to use the brain’s memory consolidation process to uncover & heal painful emotional schemas. These schemas occur outside of our awareness, but oftentimes present as blocks to our understanding with a high emotional toll.

Lastly, I draw from Enactive Trauma Therapy. This modality was designed from the common structural dissociation theory and incorporates a branch of cognitive science known as enactive cognition. In this philosophy, individual minds & bodies are treated as a whole, instead of a split, and it recognizes how we are dependent on the environment around us.

Philosophy

My practice is informed by research, stories, philosophy, neuroscience, and a curiosity for meaning to help alleviate what troubles my patients. Often times, not only can the symptoms alone be distressing, but one’s reactions and conceptualization of symptoms can pose added distress.
